Elephant Origami
A souvenir elephant using the origami technique can be made both from a banknote and from plain paper. If you want to give an original present, this is the best option! Just fold an elephant for good luck from a banknote. In the meantime, it’s worth practicing on a sheet of paper the size of a banknote. Carefully follow all the steps, as the process is not simple and requires perseverance and time.
Fold a sheet of paper in half lengthwise.
Bend the upper and lower corners on the left to the middle, as if you would be making an airplane.
Perform two more folds also to the middle like for the airplane.
Bend the corner obtained on the left back to the right edge.
Turn over the shape and fold the bottom edge to the corner.
Two folds have formed between the left corner and the right edge. Between them, you need to make another line, for which you should connect both folds together and crease the fold.
Bend the right edge to the first line to get another valley fold. Then, return the right edge to its original position.
Rotate the shape 90 degrees in front of you. Bend the fold under the triangle again.
Unfold the triangle down.
Then, raise the triangle in the opposite direction, but make the valley fold at the level of the middle fold.
Flip the shape. Make a fold at the bottom.
Fold back the bottom fold and create a valley fold along the marked points.
Position the figure as in the photo. Make two small diagonal folds at the bottom of the crease.
Open the resulting small folds and flatten them.
Flip the shape over and repeat steps 19 and 20 for the opposite side.
Fold the figure in half lengthwise. You can already see the blank for the elephant figurine.
Perform a reverse inner fold in the area of the elephant’s trunk.
Another small reverse fold must be done with the tip of the trunk.
Let’s take care of the back of the elephant. First, make one fold along the valley fold.
The next step is to make diagonal folds to form the rear pair of elephant legs.
In the end, you would form the tail also using the reverse inner fold method.
The elephant is ready.
