Origami Card Holder

Here we have something not very typical for origami. This is a simple but useful and practical item, which can make up a really handy gift for your loved one.

The cardholder, we are going to create today, is suitable for business cards or credit cards, depending on the initial size of the paper: for the first, you need a square sheet with a side length of 21 cm, and for the second – 23 cm. This origami will also come in handy if you want to give someone a gift certificate, or maybe to wrap up a romantic letter, then just use it as an envelope, staring the creating process with a larger size of paper.

Step 1

Prepare a square sheet of paper.

Step 2

Fold the sheet in half along the vertical axis, work the fold, and unfold.

Step 3

Fold the right and left sides inward so that their edges meet at the center line. Work the folds thoroughly, then unfold.

Step 4

Fold the bottom corner at right angles to the first vertical line.

Step 5

Repeat step 4 for the other three corners.

Step 6

Now fold the right and left sides inward to the center line.

Step 7

You can already see how the sheet of paper is turning into something looking like an envelope.

Step 8

Turn the paper over. Fold the top side down so that the triangle on the back surface appears complete. The fold line goes across its top.

Step 9

Bend the top part of the figure towards you, with the triangular opening looking at you, just like shown in the photo.

Step 10

In the same way, fold the bottom side up so that the edges on the sides are slightly interrupted by the top.

Step 11

Work out all the folding lines and corners, as it is very important for the practical side of this origami.

Step 12

You have done it: your cardholder is ready. It is convenient to store bank or business cards in it, as it takes up little space and easily fits into a pocket.
