This is a very delicate origami, which is quite easy to make. Dove is a symbol of purity, tenderness, and love. In the modern world, doves also represent marriage and home, and therefore they are present on wedding cards and decorations. Doves also take part in one of the most popular traditions: the newlyweds let them fly after the main part of the celebration. Doves made in origami technique can not fly, but still look beautiful and have all the symbolism in them.

What is unusual about this origami figure is that it is made of a round sheet of paper. In sets for origami such are rare, so you will need to prepare it yourself. Also, this origami is distinguished by the fact that you will have to use scissors.

Step 1

Take a square sheet of 20×20 cm and with the help of a circular outline on it a circle of the appropriate diameter, and then cut it out.

Step 2

Fold the circle in half.

Step 3

Fold it in half again, work out the fold, and unfold it.

Step 4
Step 5

Fold the sides to the center line.

Step 6
Step 7

Fold the shape in half.

Step 8

Now you need to make a 5 cm cut: follow the dotted line, shown in the photo.

Step 9
Step 10

Fold the top layer of the cut piece sideways, as shown in the photo.

Step 11

Turn the figure over and bend the cut-off part symmetrically on this side as well.

Step 12
Step 13

The tail and wings of the dove are ready, it remains to create the head. Make an inner reverse fold on the corner.

Step 14
Step 15

Final touches: take the scissors and leave it to your imagination to finalize the wings and tail.

Step 16

This origami works beautifully with an openwork paper doily – then the wings and tail look truly stunning. If you or your friends have a wedding coming up, you can make a dozen of these origami birds and connect them with a thin thread. It will be a great idea to decorate the house for the guests’ arrival.
