Origami Gliding Airplane
A stunning airplane, the name of which already says a lot, is made using the origami technique. When designing this model, the craftsmen did not focus on speed, maneuverability, or unusual tricks. They focused their skills on making the plane glide smoothly through the air and cover great distances. Therefore, such an aircraft is ideal for launching from high-rise buildings, hills, and other elevations.
To make such an airplane you will need to prepare a sheet of A4 paper. In terms of difficulty level, this origami can be classified as medium – children may need your help.
Place a sheet of paper vertically.
Fold it in half, crease the fold well, and unfold it.
This will be your guiding fold for the next steps.
Fold the top right corner down so that it is in the middle of the bottom edge of the left half of the sheet.
Unfold.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the upper left corner, folding and unfolding the paper in a similar manner.
Fold the paper like an accordion, focusing on the marked folds, as shown in the photo.
Fold the upper layers of the upper right and left corners inward.
Fold the top layer in the center up along the dotted line.
Now, you need to bend the side horns that appeared in the upper part.
To do this, wrap them twice back and inward along the dotted lines.
Fold the figure in half, as in the photo.
The time has come to fold the wings of the plane.
Fold the paper outward along the dotted line to form a wing.
Now, we’ll make a special fold that will help extend the flight of the plane: fold the paper along the dotted line.
You are almost done with folding!
Turn the paper over and fold the second wing symmetrically, making two similar folds.
Your beautiful plane is ready for its first flight!
Practice shows that it is best to launch this model gently and carefully so that it demonstrates all its abilities. It’s best to climb a little higher to make the flight really long: for example, launch it from a balcony.
