Origami Matthews Butterfly

A mysterious and very beautiful Mathews butterfly will turn out if you follow the instructions given below clearly. You can play with it and use it as a decoration. If you make a lot of butterflies and glue them on a large sheet of paper, you will get a wonderful picture. Intrigued? Then let’s get started.

Step 1

Place a 15×15 cm square sheet of paper face down.

Step 2

Fold the paper vertically and unfold it again.

Step 3

Wrap one side parallel to the center line.

Step 4

Cut off the excess along the fold line.

Fold the paper in half horizontally, then vertically.

Press well and unfold.

Pull the paper apart on one side, pressing the top corner against the center axis.

Flip the sheet over.

Make 2 diagonal folds on the inside, then unfold.

Wrap the corners inward along the fold lines.

Open the wings of the butterfly at an angle.

Fold the butterfly in half to give it volume.
