Origami Sword
A great toy idea for your child, especially if he loves cartoons about knights or samurai, is an origami sword. This is just perfect, because this origami figure looks very realistic, but it is absolutely safe.
The instructions below will help you make a very cute little sword, but you can get a bigger sheet to make it look more like a real sword. As for the color – for a more realistic look, we recommend choosing gray tones of paper.
Take a 15×15 cm piece of paper and cut it in half.
Take the first half, fold lengthwise, work out the fold, and then unfold it.
Indent the right side about 3 cm and fold it inwards.
Fold the paper inwards, 2mm from the right edge.
Flip the figure over.
Fold the top and bottom of the paper to the center line.
On the left side, fold in both corners so that they meet at the center line.
Fold the paper in half. The first piece of origami is ready.
Take the second half of the paper.
Fold alternately along the horizontal and vertical axes, work out the folds, and unfold.
Bend the upper and lower halves to the center line.
Then fold the bottom half up.
Fold the left side to the center line.
Fold the right side into the center so that it slightly overlaps the left side.
Now you need to tuck the right side of the paper into the folds of the left side.
Turn the paper 90 degrees counterclockwise. Make two diagonal folds along the dotted lines, shown in the photo, then unfold.
Take the top layer and fold it to the left, then spread the paper out on the table – it should fold along the diagonal folds.
Bend the top and bottom corners slightly inward. The second part of the origami is ready.
Assemble the sword: insert the first part into the hole in the center of the second part, as shown in the photo.
The sword is ready!
If you complete it with an origami helmet, you will get a real knight’s set.
