An origami tiger is folded from two sheets of orange paper (you can use white paper if you want to create a white tiger). According to the Chinese zodiac calendar, the tiger is the third of the 12 signs of the Chinese zodiac. The other signs of the Chinese Zodiac are the rat, bull, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.

Step 1

First, fold the origami cow’s head.

Step 2

Take a square paper and fold it as shown in the photo, forming 2 mountain folds.

Step 3

Turn the paper over with the open side facing up and fold the corner of the front of the paper over.

Step 4

Then open it and fold the triangle.

Step 5

Follow these steps for the back of the paper.

Step 6

Bend the inner folds as shown in the photo, forming the neck and nose of the tiger.

Step 7
Step 8

Fold the ears on top of each other and flatten the tiger’s face with your fingers.

Step 9

You can stick a small piece of tape between the ears to fix them in this position.

Step 10

Use a key or another flat object to open the tiger’s ears slightly.

Step 11

Now tear off about half of the bottom of the tiger’s neck.

Step 12

Unfold the torn part and lay it flat. You will use it to make the tiger’s tail.

Step 13

Now, start rolling the paper slowly and tightly as shown in the photo.

Step 14

When the rolling of the tube comes to an end, start rolling from the opposite side, as shown below.

Step 15

Now, complete the folding of the tiger’s tail.
The roll on the end part will allow you to cover the main paper tube without resorting to tape or glue.

Step 16

The paper tube will turn out to be quite flexible. Bend it into an “S” shape to form the tail of the tiger.

Step 17

Now, the body of the tiger is all you have left to do. For this, fold the body of the origami cow.
Insert the head and tail of the tiger into the body (you can use tape). Now, draw the stripes with a marker or pen.

To fold a more realistic origami tiger, you can use animal print origami paper.
